Luke Cheyne reflects as Captain

10 months ago By PR & Media Department

Captain Cheyne shares his thoughts ahead of this weekends international against Wales Deaf.

“I genuinely have goosebumps, I cannot wait to meet up with the squad again !” Luke Cheyne (Captain)

Following on from a hugely successful autumn in 2017, with the series whitewash over New Zealand, our thoughts are now firmly on the task ahead as we prepare to take on Wales.

They have proven to be a tough test for us over the past few years, as we have gone through our rebuilding period following our last win over Wales in 2012. We are excited to build upon the success of the New Zealand series and we will be doing everything we can for the entire 80 minutes to ensure we get that win.

It will be intense and highly physical as always, but it’s sure to be a great game. We will implement our game plan and we’re confident that they won’t be able to match our physicality and pace.

We’ve selected arguably our strongest squad yet, and since we last played them in January 2017, we have unearthed some brilliant talents who we really feel will make the difference.

We were delighted with the level of support we received for the New Zealand series and we can’t wait to perform again infront of a big crowd at Ilkley RFC.
