Hitchin Rugby Club's Estonia Tour
Hitchin Rugby Club's Estonia Tour
The rugby coaching session in Estonia was the idea put forward by the coaching staff of the Hitchin rfc and has proved that rugby has no language barriers at all. Working in two Russian schools in Tallinn the coaches had the children playing tag rugby within 20 minutes with teachers looking on in amazement. Other schools were invited to come along and observe the proceedings and now several more schools have asked for tag rugby in their schools. Andy Stonehouse, a member of the England Deaf Squad headed the coaching in the Tallinn School for Deaf and was an instant hit with the children and has become a roll model for many budding Estonian rugby players. This wonderful project was only made possible by Patrick Harnett and his company Tekmos Communications who sponsored the coaching staff whilst in Estonia. Every one in Estonia will benefit long term as tag kit, balls, skill packs, and most of all the friendships made at the schools will last forever.
