England Deaf Women's superb effort failed to clinch the result against Portsmouth XV Valkyries

Torrential rain was a testament for both teams

“A huge challenge ahead...” Media & PR Dept

Although Jodie Ounsley led the scoring board with a hand full of tries, the hosts proved to be a reckoning force, which gave them the winning result at the end of a wet day!

England Deaf Womens played with such vigour and bravery, and almost pulled off a win to add to their unbeaten record.

Considering the team hardly play together as a team regularly, just show there is much talent in the camp, and hopefully the next game in March will allow them to reflect on the todays performance and be prepared for their game on March 24th 2018 against Preston Grasshoppers Ladies

England Deaf Rugby Women XV travel to Portsmouth on 20th January 2018
On Saturday 20th January 2018, England Deaf Women's Development are hosted by Portsmouth Rugby Club to play their Ladies Team, known as Portsmouth Valkyries.

Kick Off is at 2pm, and the game will be Live Streamed from around 1.45pm.

England Deaf Rugby is pleased to announce that England Deaf Women's Development Squad will be playing its first demanding game of 2018, against Portsmouth Valkyries who are following a successful 2016/17 Season, with promotion to Women's National Challenge (NC) South East-West 1 for 2017/18.

The Valkyries have so far played 8 league fixtures at this higher level, winning 6, drawing 1, and losing 1, placing them as League Leaders at the top of NC South East West 1, which is Level 4 in the English Women's game.

Our fans will remember that the England Squad played against a level 4 ladies side last year, Rugby Lionesses, who play NC Midlands 1, and that was a high scoring, fast, and entertaining game from both sides, with England running out eventual winners 36-20, in a game that could have gone either way.

We're planning to bring you the game live from the side of the pitch, from 1.45pm, with highlights posted on the England Deaf YouTube Channel later on. Fingers crossed on the weather this time, so we can watch our ladies in action!!!
