Success at the Cambridge Big Weekend

On the 10th - 12th July, Parker’s Piece in Cambridge played host to the city’s famous ‘Big Weekend’ organised by the Cambridge Live trust. 25,000 people made the most of the sunshine to join in the summer festivities and the weekend was a great success.
The Big Weekend officially opened with an evening reception for the event sponsors and organisers with the Mayor of Cambridge, followed by live music from Heather Small and an impressive firework display which kicked off at 10pm.

The fun continued on Saturday as families enjoyed live music, fun fair rides, delicious food, ice cream and Pimms! Hearing Healthcare Centre sponsored The Big Weekend and the team spent the day offering FREE hearing screenings and advice to band members, organisers, and the general public.
Speaking about The Big Weekend, Andy Coughlan, Director of Hearing Healthcare Centre said

'This is the first time we’ve attended the Big Weekend, the atmosphere was brilliant. We were overwhelmed by the number of people interested in our free hearing screenings, so much so that we had people queuing up just to speak to one of our audiologists’.

‘The Big Weekend was made even more entertaining as families cooled down from the hot summer sun by taking it in turns to ‘soak a friend’ with our pitch burst game. Great fun!

The Cambridge Mela took place on Sunday 12th July and as the Official Audiologists for the England Deaf Rugby team, we watched in excitement as the EDRU men's squad played an exhibition game of 10's rugby against a Cambridge select team and won! The game was played in very good spirit, and EDRU showed their skill and talent after going behind early on. Congratulations to all the England Deaf Rugby players.

The Man of the Match trophy was presented to Adam Faulkner by Chris Carr, audiologist and director of Hearing Healthcare Centre. Well played Adam !

Hope some of this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any questions or need anything else.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Andy Coughlan
